1. Obituary. Clara May Daves, age 89, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022.
Clara May (Jones) Daves was born on July 18, 1933 in Amistad, New Mexico.
Clara May was the first born of Harold and Mamie Jones. Clara May grew up in the Amistad and Clayton, NM areas and graduated from high school in Clayton, NM.
Clara May and Luther Wayne Daves were married on November 22, 1958 in Amistad, New Mexico.
Clara May is survived by her daughter, Dorlaska May Cammack and son-in-law, Brian Cammack, grandson, Trentan of Edgewood, New Mexico, brother, Harold Dean Jones of El Cajon, California, as well as other nieces and nephews.
Clara May was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wayne and brother, George Gene Jones.
Wayne and Clara May owned C & D Janitorial and Exterminating Service for approximately 30 years. Clara May taught piano and accordion lessons and had over 40 students at one time. Clara May was an active member and held different offices within the New Mexico Federation of Music Club.
Clara May enjoyed babysitting and taking care of "her boys"! Clara May worked for Sun Healthcare for a few years and also worked for Ruth Tribou Tax and Bookkeeping Services for approximately 15 years when she officially retired at 87 years of age.
Clara May was a member of the following organizations, Adah Chapter #5 Order of Eastern Star and La Mesa Court #3 Amaranth. Clara May was a volunteer playing the piano and organ for the Veterans Administration Chapel and received the Presidential Award for having 4,000 service hours.
Clara May was known for her smile, laughter and many stories, as well as her love for Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Clara May loved spending time with her family and friends. Clara May loved the Amistad community where she had many wonderful memories.
Clara May read the Bible and provided her daughter, Dorlaska with a call each morning, reading her a daily devotion. Clara May thoroughly enjoyed playing, teaching, singing and listening to music! Clara May attended Harvest Bible Fellowship Church with her family, Dorlaska, Brian and Trentan.
Viewing will be on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The viewing and funeral services will be held at Daniels Funeral Home, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM. Burial will be at Santa Fé National Cemetery in Santa Fé, NM on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 12:30 p.m.
