Harry Hubert Pothour

• Obituary. Harry H Pothour, age 98, died Saturday, January 12, 1985, at the Parkview Terrace Nursing Home of Platteville following a long illness.

The son of George and Amanda Winters Pothour was born July 14, 1886 in Platteville. He attended the Platteville schools. On July 26, 1913, he was united in marriage to the former Anna Engelke of Belmont. They made their home in Platteville. In 1926, he moved to Milwaukee where he was employed by several different companies before working and retiring from the Schlitz Brewery. After retiring he made his home in Florida. He returned Platteville in 1977, where he made his home at Park view Terrace. He was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Platteville.

Surviving are one son, Melvin Pothour, Platteville; one daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Ruth) Fuerstenberg, Platteville; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren in three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister Mrs. Evelyn McComb, Chicago Illinois.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 14 at 8 PM, in the Mergen Funeral Home of Platteville with the Rev. Lance Herrick officiating. Burial was held in the Wisconsin Memorial Park of Milwaukee.

Harry married Anna Caroline Dorothee Engelke, daughter of Heinrich Johann Engelke and Louise Dorothea Charlotte Riechers, on 26 Jul 1913 in Platteville, WI. (Anna Caroline Dorothee Engelke was born on 24 Nov 1893 in Germany, died on 15 Jul 1986 in Platteville, WI and was buried in Platteville, WI, Greenwood Cemetery.)
