1. Obituary. PLATTEVILLE - Donald L. Pothour, age 92, of Platteville, died on Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Heartland Health Care Center, Platteville. He was born on April 30, 1910, in Platteville, the son of Will and Ella (Fitzsimmons) Pothour. He was united in marriage on Jan. 28, 1939, in Platteville, Wis., to Margaret Kartman, and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2002.
Don worked for Heiser's Hardware for 27 years. After his retirement, he was a self-employed handyman in Platteville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville, and he was also a member for over 50 years of the National Rifle Association. He served as a volunteer Fireman for 40 years, where he was past assistant chief. He also served in the National Guard, Company M in Platteville. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Nancy) Pothour of Platteville, Wis., and Jim (Donna) Pothour of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Mary Pothour of Madison, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Casey Pothour, Ann Pothour, Jennifer (Randy) Heins, Nicole (Matt) Ettringer, Joy (Bob) McKee, Jon (Kim) Pothour, and Jay (Tina) Pothour; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maxine Pothour of Lake Mills, Wis., and Dorothy Wills of Beloit, Wis.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gene Pothour, on Nov. 21, 1998; his parents; and two sisters, Ramona and Irene.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Platteville. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. The Rev. Charles Schluter will officiate.
