Daniel Bushnell
General Notes: In Col. Hinman's Reg of Conn. Reg. 10th Company. At seig e of Boston, West Point, Morristown in 1779. In for shor t while prior to 1775. Reinlisted in 13 Apr 1778 for thre e years in Col. Webbs Reg. A carpenter, built the Congrega tional church in Hartland, Conn. 1801. Conducted religiou s services when minister absent. Taught children in church. Noted events in his life were: • Miscellaneous. Daniel Bushnell removed with his father to Hartland, Conn. served in the latter part of Rev. War in his father's Co. at age of 16 it is claimed. After the war he became a carpenter and built the Congregational Church at Hartland, the door step of which carries this inscription, "Built by Mr. Daniel Bushnell, raised June 30, 1801." About 1803/4 he removed to Hartford, Ohio, and built the Congregational Church there in 1819, and when a minister was not to be had he conducted the religious services. He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and in the later years of his life was a member of the M.E. Church. He had 17 children, 10 by his first wife and 7 by the second who died in Hartford, Ohio, and was the second adult to be buried in the cemetery at the center of the township. Daniel married Rebecca Banning, daughter of Samuel Banning and Eleanor Barnes, on 1 Mar 1786 in East Hartford, CT, Congregational Church. (Rebecca Banning was born in 1765, died on 7 Jul 1809 in Hartford, OH and was buried in Hartford, CT, Hartford Township Cemetery.) Marriage Notes: Reference: Daniel next married Eunice Brockway.
