1. Obituary. Leona Florence (Slater) Parker age 90, of Tomah, Wisconsin and formerly of Mather, Wisconsin, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, just as the morning sun was rising. She was born on May 4, 1918, to William and Sarah Slater in Mather, Wisconsin. Leona was united in marriage to Donald Leon Parker on May 7, 1934.
The greatest joy in her life was her 18 children and their families. She loved cooking, dancing, listening to old country music and playing cards. In her free time she enjoyed winning at the casinos.
She is survived by 17 children: Donna (John) Polizzi of New Berlin, Delores (Robert) James of Sandy, Utah, Donnie (Sally) Parker of Milwaukee, Verlin (Marion) of Redgranite, Norma (John) Lyman of West Bend, Larry (Gay) Parker of Mauston, Carol Schulz (Special friend Walter) of Fox Point, Shirley (Clinton) Meacham of Tomah, Sharon (William) Lorenz of Colgate, Cynthia (Danny) Fagan of Withee, Mary Kay (Dan) Overby of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Linda (Bill) Meyer of Ozark, Alabama, Rita Rixie of Rochester, Minnesota, Pattie (Lewis) Libbey of Tomah, Denise (Greg) Henderson of Norwalk, Dennis (Tammy) Parker of Altamont, Kansas, Alan Parker of Oswego, Kansas; 60 grandchildren, 82 Great Grandchildren, 13 Great Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 62 years Donald and a son, Edward; brothers Sonny, Gaylord, Billy, and Everett and a sister, Pansy Delaney.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Tomah. Rev. Edwin Stigen will officiate. Leona will be laid to rest next to her husband Donald at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Mather. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 5 \endash 8 p.m at the church.
