1. Obituary. The body of Wallace Wieland who died of pneumonia in Brest, France, Oct. 19, 1918, was brought, to Lancaster and given burial from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christian Wieland, at the Hurricane Sunday morning at 11 o'clock.
The service was conducted by the Richard Burns Post, American Legion, members of which acted as pallbearers and their chaplain, Walter Damm read the service. All military honors were given the departed comrade. The final honor of a rifle volley followed by taps over the open grave.
The remains of the deceased, was one of 93 bodies that had been disinterred from their graves in France and brought home for final burial, which were sent from Chicago last week to different points in the middle west. -- Lancaster Teller, Lancaster, WI - July 22, 1920
