1. Obituary: The Teller, Lancaster, WI, 25 Feb 1904. Amelia Hessing was born in the Province of Hanover, Germany, Aug. 20, 1820. Came to America, to St. Lous, in 1850, where, on Feb. 15, 1851, she was married to Joseph Bendorf. They resided in St. Louis about three years when they moved to Grant County, Wis., residing in Rockville, British Hollow and South Lancaster until the death of Mr. Bendorf in June, 1894. Since then she has made her home with her sons, four of whom are still living, one having died a few years since.

For nearly fifteen years, Mother Bendorf has been blind and being of an active, industrious disposition, felt the affliction all the more, and for the past year has waited the time when she should go home.

The final summons came Feb. 14, 1904. The funeral was held at Boice Creek Feb. 16, conducted by Rev. J. T. Morgans, and the remains laid to rest in the Boice Creek cemetery beside those of the husband and companion of many years.
