John McFall 1
37th Reg., Wis. Vol Inf, Co. F. Mustered in Oct 24, 1864 for one year. He was 37 at the time and was a substitute for another man, Benjamin Mathew. He was mustered out July 27, 1865. The 37th Wis was part of the assault on Petersburg, Va. in 1865. They were in the Grand Review of troops in Washington. D. C., May 23, 1865.

McFall--In Platteville, July 23, 1884, after a lingering illness of a number of years, Mr. John McFall, aged 56 years. John married Barbara Smirl, daughter of William George Smirl and Barbara Reed, on 22 Jun 1856 in Grant Cty, WI. (Barbara Smirl was born on 10 Jun 1837 in Heuvelton, NY, died on 10 Jun 1870 in Ellenboro, WI and was buried in Platteville, WI, Whig Cemetery.)
