When Henry James McFall was born on 3 June 1804, in Coitsville Township, Trumbull, Ohio, United States, his father, Malcolm McFall, was 51 and his mother, Barbara Simon Buttles, was 34. He married Mary Haney in 1826. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Boardman Township, Trumbull, Ohio, United States in 1830. He died on 11 March 1867, at the age of 62.

Henry married Mary Augustine Haney, daughter of James Haney and Jane, on 22 Jun 1825 in Likely Trumbull, Ohio. (Mary Augustine Haney was born on 31 Aug 1805 in OH, died on 11 Mar 1867 in Harrison Township, Grant County, WI and was buried in Platteville, WI, Whig Cemetery.)
