1. Obituary. Donald C. Fowler, Sr., 81, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2011 at the Serenity House, in Tomah, WI, following a battle with cancer. Donald was born August 28, 1929, in Mather, WI, to Clayton and Edith (Griffin) Fowler. On February 17th, 1965, he was united in marriage to Alice Marie Oftedahl, in Minnesota, and then resided in Tomah, WI, she preceded him in death. On August 14, 1992, Donald was united in marriage to Mary Wildes.

Upon graduation from high school, Donald moved to Milwaukee and graduated from The Milwaukee School of Engineering. He then worked for Milwaukee Gas Company, while owning his own business, Fowler Furnace Company. In 1960, Donald moved back to the Tomah area, where he worked in the automotive industry for Larson Chevrolet and Highway 21 Motors. Donald was also a foreman at Job Corp in Camp McCoy, while operating Don's Sport Shop, a gun and ammo store. Donald and Alice opened Don's Auto Sales, in August of 1968, on Highway 21 in Tomah, WI. They continued to grow the family business with their children, Alan, Dale and Donnie, until 1988 when Donald retired and sold the business to his youngest son, Donnie. Throughout Donald's life he was a Ducks Unlimited Sponsor, a supporter of the NRA and a gun dealer. He also owned and sponsored various local race cars and was an avid hunter and sportsman. Don was always a wheeler and dealer and always spoke his mind. Donald's wife, Alice, passed away and later Don married Mary and moved to Phillips, Wisconsin where they resided until Mary's death. The rest of Donald's retirement years were spent enjoying the summer months in Tomah and the winter months in Hudson, Florida, with his companion, Ida Parpart. During this time, he enjoyed rummage sales, tool buying, and almost anything he could make a deal on. He always had a special place in his heart for his two grandchildren, Donnie and Maleah.

He is survived by a special companion Ida Parpart of Tomah, 4 sons Donald, Jr. of Tomah, Alan (Ruby) Rose of Tomah, Dale Rose of Eagles Nest, Brian Rose of California, 3 grandchildren Donald C. Fowler, III, Maleah and Kelli Rose of Tomah, a great-grandchild Kamryn, a daughter-in-law Ann Rose of Tomah, 6 stepdaughters Nancy (Mick) Greene of Cameron, Linda (John) Liss of Greenville, IL, Patricia (Bill) Sisterson of Glendale, AZ, Katherine (Ralph) Von der Ehe of Tomah, Martha (Doug) Stratton of Onalaska, and Deborah (Jerry) Pertersen of Kendall, a step-son LeRoy Wildes Jr. of Janesville, 2 brothers Virgil (Bertha) of Tomah and Harold (June) of Warrens, special friends Ronald Parpart Sr of Phillips, and Ronald Jr. of Milwaukee, many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Edith, his wife Alice on February 14, 1991 and his wife Mary on November 14th 1999, a son Collin (Fudge) Rose.

Funeral services was held Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, Tomah, WI. Pastor Edwin W. Stigen officiated. Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Mather, WI. Relatives and friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. A Special Thank you to Franciscan-Skemp Cancer Center, Dr. Rodney Erickson and Staff at the Tomah Memorial Hospital, Valerie Kuehl and the Hospice Staff at the Serenity House in Tomah.
