• Obituary. Margaret Sigurdson, 94, of Minden, NE passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Kearney County Health Services in Minden, NE. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with the Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. The family has honored Margaret's wishes to be cremated. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, WY. Memorial book signing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden. Memorials are suggested to Bethany Home or to Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden.

Margaret was born on November 16, 1923 in Grant County, WS to Elwood and Eunice (Gollmer) McFall. She grew up on the Bluebird Farm in a family of five brothers and two sisters. Margaret enjoyed the farm, preferring to work outdoors to indoors, particularly if she could be with the family horses. She attended Whig school. She continued her education at Platteville High School and Greenville College at Greenville, Il. Following her education, she taught at a one-room school house.
She was united in marriage with Elden Sigurdson on June 1, 1947 at the Whig Methodist Church at Platteville. They celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his death. Margaret and Elden moved many times because of Elden's employment as a petroleum engineer. With her congenial personality and love of visiting, Margaret made friends and became part of the communities in which they lived. Margaret had a gift for decorating and her home was always welcoming, from the flowers in the yard to the home-made cookies that accompanied tea or coffee.

Margaret and Elden raised Arabian horses and were active in the Northern Division of the Wyoming Arabian Horse Association. She enjoyed showing their horses at the Park County Fair and riding in parades. She loved oil painting; her beloved horses and the mountains of Wyoming were some of her favorite subjects. Margaret was also an accomplished seamstress and made many of her own clothes, including the dresses for her sons' weddings.

Margaret was a long-time member of Hope Lutheran Church in Powell, WY where she was active in the women's group and Bible study. She joined and attended Bethany Lutheran Church and Miriam Circle when she moved to Minden. She also appreciated the meals and fellowship at the Minden Community Senior Center prior to her entrance into Bethany Home. Margaret enjoyed all the activities at Bethany Home, with favorites being special musicians and bingo.

Margaret is survived by her son Randy and wife Dawna Sigurdson of Minden and their children, Audrey Sigurdson of AZ; Alicia and husband Mike Epping and sons Tristan and Miles of AZ; and Asher Sigurdson of Auburn, NE and his fiancé Cindy Yeager of CT; son Jeff and wife Teri Sigurdson and their children, Ryan Sigurdson and Julia Sigurdson of MN; daughter-in-law, Laurie Sigurdson of WY and her children, Mike and wife Melisa and their sons, Simon and Derek of MT; and Sara and husband Josh Kendrick and sons Deacon, Ryker and Liam of WY. She is also survived by her brother Douglas McFall of GA; brother-in-law, Leonard and wife Sylvia of CO; sister-in-law, Renja Sigurdson of MN as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Dale, Lyle, George, and Bob McFall and sisters Gladys Brown and Dorothy Zart and their spouses.

Margaret married Elden Arlo Sigurdson, son of Sievert Otto Sigurdson and Anna, on 1 Jun 1947 in Grant Cty, WI, Whig Methodist Church. (Elden Arlo Sigurdson was born on 23 Mar 1923 in Minneota, MN, died on 10 Sep 2004 in Powell, WY and was buried on 16 Sep 2004 in Powell, WY, Crown Hill Cemetery.)
