1. Obituary. Matilda was the daughter of George McFall and Laura Eva Barstow. She married Charles Merry on 20 NOV 1884 in Platteville, Wisconsin. They were the parents of Clara, George William, Jesse Colwell, Wallace Baree, Ora Belle, Harold Jay, Hazel Fern, Myrtle Edith, Dewey, Thomas, Coralie Luella, and Reid Quentin.
March 1, 1956 - Sioux Rapids Bulletin Press - Funeral services for Matilda Inez Merry, a long time resident of Sioux Rapids, were held Saturday afternoon at the Funeral home with buria1 in Lone Tree cemetery beside her husband. Rev J.T. Snyder chose for his text the 14th Chapter of John. Vocal selections "The Home Over There" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" were sung by Mrs. Richard Burr with Mrs. Floyd Ingram at the piano. Pallbearers were Robert Napier. Aimer Osmundsen, Carroll Ensley, Levi Landsness, Donald Mortenson, and Olaf Samuelson.
Matilda Inez McFall, daughter of George and Laura McFall was born near Platteville, Wis., on Oct. 14, 1864, and passed away Feb. 23, 1956, at the Panska Nursing home in Hawarden, Iowa.
She grew to young womanhood in the home where she was born near Platteville. On Nov. 20, 1884, she was united in marriage to Charles Hoyle Merry. To this union twelve children were born, seven of whom died in infancy.
In May of 1900, they moved to Sioux Rapids where they have since resided.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec 31, 1942. Since that time, she has been in failing health and has lived for the past two years in the Panska Nursing Home in Hawarden, Ia. She will be long remembered for the flowers she loved so much and which she shared so generously with her many friends.
She is survived by four sons: Jess, Minneapolis, Minn., Wallace, Whittier, Cal., Dewey, Sioux Rapids, Thomas of Twin Falls, Idaho, and one daughter, Mrs Cora Ensley of Beloit, WI. She had thirteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs Adaline Miner of Marion, Ind.; Mrs. Luna McMahon of Lancaster, Wis., Mrs. Jennie Enloe of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one brother Ellwood McFall of Platteville, Wis.
Relatives attending were Dewey Merry of Sioux Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Merry from Minneapolis. Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ensley, Sharon, Kathleen and Michael from Beloit, Wis.; Mr and Mrs. Elwood McFall and Lyle McFall from Platteville, Wis.; Mrs. Genevieve Mulvihill and F r a n k Merry from Havelock, Ia.; Mrs. Gertrude Stuhlmiller and Mrs. Mabel McNamara of Cherokee, and Mr and Mrs. Joe Jeppeson of Sioux Rapids.
Matilda married Charles Hoyle Merry, son of William Merry and Charlotte Ann Rodgers, on 20 Nov 1884 in Platteville, WI. (Charles Hoyle Merry was born on 10 Nov 1854 in Woburn, IL, died on 31 Dec 1942 in Sioux Rapids, IA and was buried in Sioux Rapids, IA Lone Tree Cemetery.)
