He was a farmer. In the 1920s, he purchased 250 acres, bu t due to the depression, was not able to hold it. He conti nued farming and renting on the same farm. In the mid thir ties, he purchased 160 acres from his mother in law (late r he sold this parcel of land in Waterloo Township, Grant C ounty, WI, to a daugher and her husband, Evelyn and Rober t Pierce). In 1937, he purchased 120 acres in southern Lan caster Township from his mother's estate. Later, he purcha sed 114 acres in Potosi township. He then purchased back t he original 250 acres where he started plus another 120 acr e pasture in Liberty Township, Stitzer, WI. In 1959, he pu rchased a home in lancaster where he and Opal retired. H e also purchased two more houses in Lancaster. Upon his re tirement, his son LeRoy went on the 604 acres. ![]()
1. Obituary. William Wieland was born on 31 July 1898, in Wisconsin, United States, his father, Christian Younger Wieland, was 38 and his mother, Louise Sophie Caroline Brinkmann, was 36. He married Opal Anna Hodoval on 21 April 1917, in Lancaster, Grant, Wisconsin, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Potosi, Grant, Wisconsin, United States for about 40 years. He died on 9 August 1985, in Lancaster, Grant, Wisconsin, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster, Grant, Wisconsin, United States. ![]() William married Opal Anna Hodoval, daughter of James W Hodoval and Clara Etta Gregory, on 21 Apr 1917 in Lancaster, WI, Presbyterian Church. (Opal Anna Hodoval was born on 29 Sep 1901 in Potosi Township, WI, died on 30 Apr 1975 in Lancaster, WI and was buried in Lancaster, WI, Hillside Cemetery.). The cause of her death was Nephro sclerosis.
