1. Obituary. Dale Fletcher McFall was born on the family farm west of Platteville, Wisconsin, on March 31, 1911. He was the oldest son of G. Elwood and Eunice Gollmer McFall. He attended Whig rural school and later graduated from the Platteville High School. He helped on his father's farm until the age of 18 when he went to work for other farmers.
On August 1, 1935 he was united in marriage to Leona Vesperman of Lancaster, Wisconsin. It was at this time that he started farming for himself near Lancaster. He worked very hard on his farm building the land and promoting fine livestock which was his greatest enjoyment.
Dale, a member of the United Methodist Church of Platteville, was very active in many organizations: one of which was 4-H. He helped organize 4-H Clubs, served as a leader for 19 years, and was president of the 4-H Leaders Council for 4 years. Working with and helping young people gave him great enjoyment.
Another organization dear to Dale was the Shorthorn Breeders Association of which he served in the capacity of president for 3 years. Being very interested in fine livestock, he worked hard to promote purebred shorthorns.
Dale also served on the School Board, the Board of Trustees of the church, and as a director of the Farm Bureau Board.
In 1953 he moved to a farm near Rewey, Wisconsin which was his present home. When failing health came to him in the fall of 1969, he had to lighten his load which was noticed not only by his family but also by friends and members of the community. He was a great family man and took great interest in his home and family.
On June 4th he was taken to the Lancaster Hospital where he passed away on June 5, 1972 to his heavenly home.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; three daughters, (Ruth) Mrs. Jim Dobson of Madison, Wisconsin, (Marilyn) Mrs. Herman Knight of Rewey, (Victoria) Mrs. Robert Rouse of Platteville; two sons, John of Rewey and William at home; eight grandchildren whom he dearly loved; three sisters, (Gladys) Mrs. Virgil Brown of Madison, (Dorothy) Mrs. Harold Zart of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and (Margaret) Mrs. Elden Sigurdson of Powell, Wyoming; four brothers, Lyle of Potosi, Wisconsin, George of Rockford, Illinois, Robert of Platteville, and Douglas of Carmi, Illinois.
Dale, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, will be sadly missed by his family, a host of friends and relatives.
